Gidey ግደይ

On Dec. 9, 2023, International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and the Prevention of this Crime, Tigray Archive presented the 1st GIDEYግደይ commemoration event.

The word "GIDEY ግደይ" means "my part" in Tigrinya. We aim to raise awareness and prevent genocide globally. The event educates the global community and explores preventive measures through insightful discussions and exchanges with experts, survivors, and community leaders. Many individuals came together to offer their GIDEY.

The commemoration event held this year was a resounding success, with discussions about the Yazidi, Nuer, Rohingya, Tigrai, Armenia, and Rwanda genocide in the different sessions of the event. GIDEYግደይ 2023 not only achieved its mission of raising awareness about the ongoing genocide in Tigrai but also helped foster connections among the different communities that participated.
